“The Sound” EP Update!

Hi everyone! Hope you like the fancy shmancy artwork for my upcoming EP (designed by the super talented Richard Tobin). As you probably know by now, I’ve been working crazy hard on this album and will continue to do so right up until July 26th – mastering day! The project has actually taken a very unique and unexpected turn, style-wise. It’s heading in a very indie direction – cello, double bass, classical guitar, mellotron, acoustic/electric guitars (sometimes played with violin bows and EBows), unorthodox percussion tracks, gang vocals, Rhodes piano, various organic synths…. It’s well on it’s way to completion and I’m SUPER excited with how it’s turning out. To God be the glory.

The track list has changed drastically too! Check it (it’s totes final now, promise) –>

1 – (introit)
2 – Passenger
3 – Love Will Find Me
4 – Please Be My Strength
5 – Aftermath
6 – The Sound
7 – I Do

(introit) is a neato instrumental tune that will likely be used to open our live shows for awhile.

Passenger is brand spankin’ new, and I’m super excited about it. It’s about not being in control and is a good testimony as to where I am in my life. I need to stop trying to make things work on my own. I fail pretty miserably most of the time. It’s not about MY story and MY desires. It’s about GOD, HIS plan for me, and how I can be made less so that He is made more.

Yes, Please Be My Strength is my arrangement of the Gungor tune! Aftermath is also a cover – the Hillsong United tune. It’s one of my favorite songs in the world. The first time I heard it, it broke me into a million pieces. It’s lyrically and musically brilliant.

Love Will Find Me, The Sound, and I Do are carryovers from the original track list. Stylisticially, however, they should offer up a few fun surprises!

Pray that things continue to go smoothly and all deadlines are met. We are on the home stretch! The CD release show is scheduled for August 25th @ Sam’s Burger Joint! Mark your calendars! More details TBA shortly.

Hugs and kisses,
Matty
